Fifty years later, a comic-book writer named Michael, haunted by his own truth and searching for meaning, interviews the man convicted of those crimes—a figure still calling himself “The Deviant Killer,” still claiming innocence. As the past bleeds into the present and Christmas looms once more, Michael finds the lines between monster and victim, writer and subject, identity and obsession beginning to blur. Raw, unsettling, and darkly queer, this is horror dressed in tinsel and dread.
Rex Ogle was born a book nerd, and refused to give up on comics as he got older. As an editor at DC Comics and Scholastic, he worked on everything from Batman and Superman to LEGO and Star Wars.
He is also the award-winning author of over a hundred books, comics, graphic novels, and memoirs—most notably Road Home (a Micheal Printz Honor and Stonewall Honor book). Under his pseudonym Rey Terciero, he also re-imagines classics as modern and queer graphic novels, including Meg, Jo, Beth, & Amy, Northranger (nominated for both Harvey and GLAAD Media Awards), and Dan in Green Gables.

Books ship once you redeem your tokens for that month’s selection. Orders go out during the last week of the month and usually arrive the first week of the next month. If you redeem late, we’ll do our best to get it to you quickly.

For quarterly book club subscriptions, you will be billed every three months on the 15th for the next month’s book pick. Each club’s upcoming title is announced on the 15th of the prior month. You can preview the pick and, if it’s not your vibe, simply hold your tokens (for up to a year) to use on another title or item instead.

Yep! You can cancel anytime after your first renewal. No hoops, no heartbreak.
Nope! We’re “read at your own pace” people. Discussion prompts go live weekly in Kiki, but you can jump in whenever the spirit (or your schedule) allows.
