A Twist of the Blade
Mercenary. Survivor. Queen.
Who is Casia Greythorne?
Still reeling from an unimaginable loss and the revelation of an identity she isn't sure she wants to embrace, Casia has one plan: Try to control something. Something like the strange magic awakening inside of her. Mastering that magic will take her and her friends on a quest through cursed lands, into the dwellings of old gods, and deep into a southern empire filled with deadly foes and unlikely allies.
Meanwhile, the foundations of the Kethran Empire continue to crumble. The king-emperor clings to his crown with increasingly bloodied hands. Monsters and soldiers alike stalk Casia's every step, determined not to let her return to claim a throne that is rightfully hers. Still, the greatest threat to her possible rule may not lie in the king-emperor, but in a former captain of his army-a man that she came dangerously close to falling in love with.
Elander Revenmar thought he knew who he was. He had a mission, a plan, a god he was content to serve. Then came Casia. A woman as mysterious as she is dangerous. One he should have stayed away from, and whose life he never should have saved.
Because salvation always comes with a cost.
And some debts can only be paid for in blood.

Werewolves, vampires, and other preternatural creatures have been living in relative peace with humanity for the past twenty-six years. There are other monsters that humanity doesn't know of, but it's best kept that way.
Valkyrie Dalton is one of these monsters. As a hellhound for Cerberus, she marks souls for the Greek underworld. When she's not gifting people with the 'kiss of death', or drinking away her problems, she's solving cases as a detective for the Las Vegas Preternatural Crime Unit. After all, it takes a monster to catch one.
When headless, heartless bodies start appearing, Val's forced to get close to her new partner, Jack Khoury. He's blunt, forward, and way too hot for his own good. As they spend more time together, the mental walls she carefully built start to crumble.
Fighting her attraction to Jack, Val tries to focus on the case. However, as more bodies appear, she's soon introduced to a whole other underworld.

The Boy Lost in the Maze
From the UK Children's Laureate comes a spellbinding YA novel in verse blending the ancient myth of Theseus and the Minotaur with the quest of a modern-day teen in search of his father. Theo, a seventeen-year-old London schoolboy with a single mother, is desperate to track down the father who left them, whom he scarcely remembers. At school he discovers Greek mythology and the ancient story of Theseus, a fatherless son driven on a similar search. As Theo focuses on Theseus in a series of poems he composes, it becomes clear the two journeys echo each other in uncanny ways. Theseus must conquer his enemies--a psycho Cyclops, a tree-bending murderer, a monstrous pig--while Theo is tricked and double-crossed, confronting obstacles ranging from a search-agency scam artist to a depraved lawyer. Poet Joseph Coelho brilliantly interweaves the boys' stories, following them through dangers, horrors, and false successes, revealing that Theo must be as resourceful and strong as his mythical hero. In a unique twist, readers are asked to take a role in picking which option the heroes should pursue when facing choices on their path to manhood. The two alternating stories, along with stories from the Minotaur's perspective, fuse into one in a riveting climax, as the protagonists meet in the heart of the labyrinth. -
