Cardinal Black
December 1703 finds Berry Grigsby fallen victim to Professor Fell's involuntary drug experiments. Her mind is quickly deteriorating under the drug's influence, and the only way to save her is a potion book that was stolen in an attack on the village orchestrated by a mysterious madman going by the name Cardinal Black.
Matthew Corbett has volunteered to travel with Julian Devane, a self-proclaimed "fool and bad man" in the employ of Professor Fell, to hunt down the potion book. They follow the trail to London, where the book will be sold at a secret auction. Matthew and Julian manage to secure a seat at the auction by masquerading as respected and feared underground operatives, but to prevail in their high-stakes mission, they will require help from a very unlikely source. Even if they are successful, their race to save Berry Grigsby will leave a trail of destruction in its wake.
Cardinal Black is another extraordinary achievement from one of America's most skilled authors, and it features some of the most memorable, compelling, and chilling characters in the Matthew Corbett series to date, each with their own competing agendas. This masterful historical adventure is perfectly balanced for long-time fans of the series and new readers alike who are now joining the adventure.

The action moves west in A.K. Mulford's romantic, action-packed epic fantasy series, The Five Crowns of Okrith, as young fae warrior Bri investigates the murder of her queen while protecting the beautiful princess she may be falling for.
Determined to uncover who killed the Western Queen, fae warrior Briata Catullus sets out on a mission to defeat the witch hunters and safeguard her princess. But when she arrives at the Western Court, things are even worse than she feared. The icy reception from the fae is the least of her problems--they've heard the prophecy that Bri will seize the crown from its sovereign, and the last thing they want is for her to usurp the throne. No, the witch hunters are out for royal blood, and it will take everything Bri has to keep them at bay.
It doesn't help that, still grieving the loss of her mother, Princess Abalina Thorne is reluctant to allow Bri into her confidence, only agreeing to let her serve as one of her guards at the behest of the princess' cousin.
As the threat of the witch hunters grows, they find themselves thrown together, working closely to uncover the secret plot of their enemies. Along the way, the princess realizes that Bri is one of the few people she can trust. But Bri is determined to forge her own path and prove the prophecy wrong, not letting the beautiful Lina distract her from defeating the witch hunters. The Invisible Man: The Original 1897 Edition
From four-time nominee of the Nobel Prize in Literature, The Invisible Man is a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells considered to be influential in helping to establish Wells' status as the "father of science fiction." Wells was an influential social critic with an eye for the future. He wrote many novels and short stories that made commentary on what society would be like in his progressive vision of the world. Though his works imagined things such as alien invasions, time travel, and human experimentation, Wells is known for his predictive stories of space travel and technology like the World Wide Web.
In The Invisible Man, a scientist who is devoted to researching optics invents a way to become invisible through neither absorbing nor reflecting light. After becoming an invisible man, Griffin dresses in long-sleeved coats and gloves, keeping his face hidden by bandages and a wide-brimmed hat in order to disguise his invisibility. During a snowstorm, he stays at a local inn owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hall, who find him extremely odd and reserved. When Griffin begins to run out of money and accidentally reveals his invisibility to his landlady, things start changing for him.
The Invisible Man is the tale of a scientist and his descent into madness, as Griffin's penchant for random violence begins to take over his life and turn his world into a horrific setting he can't control. Like many of H. G. Wells' stories, The Invisible Man examines philosophical aspects of science fiction and lends cultural criticism on subjects that may seem possible only through imagination.
