My Gun Is the Jury! and Other Stories
Jack Davis and Wallace Wood's crazed cartooning in Mad changed the art form, and comedy itself, forever. But their gonzo parody work in Mad's sister satire title, Panic, published at the same time, is less well-known. To invert that injustice, this volume of The Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library presents all their zany, pun-packed Panic lampoonery, especially their pomposity-puncturing movie parodies, including Davis's "My Gun Is the Jury!" "Come Back, Little Street Car!", "A Star Is Corn" and Wood's "African Scream!", "Gone With The Widow," and "20,000 Leaks Under The Sea."These visual volleys are verbalized by Al Feldstein (editor of Panic, later editor of Mad) and Jack Mendelsohn (prolific cartoonist and writer whose non-comics credits include TV's Laugh-In and The Beatles' Yellow Submarine). But the laughs don't languish. Also included is the never-before-reprinted "V-Vampires," a riotous romp written by the legendary Harvey Kurtzman and drawn by Wood that vanished after its initial appearance more than 70 years ago!

Sold outEtiquette for Lovers and Killers
"An Agatha Christie mystery wrapped up in an Emily Henry romance." --Maine Public Radio, Northeast Corner A USA TODAY BESTSELLER What are the chances of receiving a love letter and an engagement ring for a perfect stranger, only to see that same woman murdered the very next day? It's 1964 in the tiny town of Eastport, Maine, and Billie McCadie is bored to death. She's surrounded by dull people with more manners than sense, and no sign of the intrigue or romance that fill her beloved novels. That is, until an engagement ring and cryptic love letter turn up, addressed to "Gertrude." Until she meets yacht-club handsome Avery Webster. Until the unsettling phone calls and visits from a man in a fedora begin. Until she's one of the last people to see Gertrude alive . . . and the first to see her dead. What follows is an intoxicating cocktail of stalking, blackmail, Jell-O salads, and champagne secrets, all served along the rocky Maine coastline. Everyone is a suspect. Everyone has a secret. And (strangely) everyone has a boat. But who is willing to kiss and tell? As the body count rises and the danger nears, why does Billie feel like she's more than just a side character? After yearning to be in the action for so long, would it be terribly unladylike to have some fun of her own? A love letter to uncivilized behavior, Etiquette for Lovers and Killers blends mystery and romance into a witty, twisty, murderous delight that aches for better manners.Sold out -

Bear and the Three Goldilocks
You'll laugh out loud at this funny fractured folktale with pictures by a popular artist! The Goldilocks family leave their campsite to go on a hike while their s'mores cool off . . . when along comes Bear. "What's that yummy smell?" Bear wonders. S'mores, of course: too gooey, too chocolatey . . . and just right! Bear eats them all. Bear continues to wreak havoc by breaking a chair, smashing musical instruments, and extinguishing the fire. When the Goldilocks return, they are flabbergasted. They try to make a lot of noise to shoo away the bear . . . when Mama Bear and Papa Bear show up. Mama and Papa apologize profusely for the behavior of their naughty offspring, but the Goldilocks don't speak "Bear." They just hear a lot of LOUD GROWLING. So they decide to hightail it out of there, and the Bear family gets to enjoy the tents and snacks that are left behind. This hilarious story, a perfect readaloud, and its hilarious pictures will delight children and parents alike. A Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection
