After finishing his engineering degree, he joined the US Navy, where he learned to fly military planes. Then at the age of thirty-seven, his application to NASA was accepted and he joined an elite group of eight astronauts-in-training. He later took multiple spacewalks at the International Space Station and was chosen for the 2026 Artemis II moon mission.
Explore Victor Glover's journey from adrenaline junkie kid to military pilot to the first Black astronaut to live and work on the International Space Station.

Leaves of Grass: The Complete 1891-1892 Edition
Walt Whitman's seminal poetry collection celebrating life, nature, philosophy, and spirituality, now repackaged for Union Square and Co.'s Signature Editions series. Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection by the American poet Walt Whitman (1819-1892). Though the first edition was published in 1855, Whitman spent his entire life writing and re-writing Leaves of Grass, revising it in several editions until his death. This resulted in vastly different editions over four decades--the first a small book of twelve poems and the last a compilation of over 400 poems. We are reissuing the complete 1892 text, known as the "deathbed edition," which Whitman personally stated should be used for all future reprintings. The poems of Leaves of Grass are loosely connected and each represents Whitman's celebration of his philosophy of life and humanity. This book is notable for its discussion of delight in sensual pleasures during a time when such candid displays were considered immoral. Where much previous poetry, especially English, relied on symbolism, allegory, and meditation on the religious and spiritual, Leaves of Grass (particularly the first edition) exalted the body and the material world. Influenced by Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalist movement, itself an offshoot of Romanticism, Whitman's poetry praises nature and the individual human's role in it. However, much like Emerson, Whitman does not diminish the role of the mind or the spirit; rather, he elevates the human form and the human mind, deeming both worthy of poetic praise. -
Autonomic Compass: Finding Home in Your Nervous System
Your Autonomic Nervous System has the strongest shaping force of any biological system over your moment-to-moment experience of wellbeing, yet most people do not understand anything about it. In this practical skills development handbook, learn to understand your Autonomic Nervous System, and how it governs your felt experience in response to your moment-to-moment detection of safety, danger, or lifethreat.
Using clear and down-to-earth analogies- understand autonomic state as water wearing each of her three faces, your neurology as an inward forest, and the spectrum of autonomic states as a palette of colors that can combine in unique ways- you will learn to understand the range of functions your Autonomic Nervous System governs, how it works, and how you can work with it to grasp and then move the deepest levers that govern your wellbeing in the direction of thriving.
Learn the foundational autonomic fluency required to grow your ability to notice, be informed by, and support the needs of your deepest survival systems, which are always shaping your interactions with the world, whether you are aware of it or not. With awareness practices to engage them, and reflective exercises so that you can explore them, you will learn to engage directly with the deepest layers of your nervous system, which communicate not in words but in the language of the felt (sensation, emotion, embodied memory).
Open the door to the original language of the body in its ancestral awareness, a way-of-knowing that has been systematically suppressed, overlooked, and negated in the modern world, yet is a primary doorway to sovereign embodiment. A practical, action-oriented handbook to build autonomic awareness, fluency, and agency, Autonomic Compass will give you a whole new set of tools to locate the truest coordinates of your thriving.

My Heart & I Agree
From Pulitzer Prize finalist Lucy Sante (I Heard Her Call My Name), a new collection of essays and reflections, mixing memoir with incisive writing about photography, music, literature, and film.
Here she learns to dance by watching Soul Train, dissects the image of the cowboy, reads the telephone book, visits famous writers, tours dead factories, wonders whatever happened to the revolution, plunges into the vast sea of discarded snapshots, asks whether "surrealist photography" might be a redundancy, imagines Andy Warhol's unmade movie, traces how Bob Dylan wrote his songs, observes the transience of all things with the Kinks.
Many of the pieces here were written on commission for magazines, publishers, and art catalogs, yet Sante's writing always coheres around an enduring set of concerns: cities, social progress, photography, the semi-popular arts, and the detritus of daily life. Beginning with poems and concluding with fiction and memoir, the collection is divided into segments based on affinity. The first stretches back to the night of a century and a half ago; the second traces the long fall of utopian hopes over the last fifty years; the third observes great narrative travelers on their roads; the fourth is all image and flash; the fifth has a rhythm track running under it. There are hit singles here, as well as album cuts, non-LP B-sides, import-only EPs, and at least one bootleg.

What the Mirror Said: The Necessity of Black Women in Poetry
When did you feel the pull of poetry? For Ashley M. Jones, the moment she knew she would be a poet was at seven years old--reciting "Harriet Tubman" by Eloise Greenfield. That moment, that poem, showed her there was a place for her in the world of literature as her full Black self. As she continued to grow as a person and a poet, becoming the first person of color and the youngest person to serve as Poet Laureate of Alabama, Jones encountered so many incredible Black women poets who showed her the possibilities. Part critical essay, part personal essay collection, What the Mirror Said traces the influence of nine Black women poets in Jones's writing and life. She brings together historical biographical information, personal reflection, and close readings as she explores personal connections to poets from Phillis Wheatley to Patricia Smith. This book is expansive in its study, from classical metrical scansion to metaphorical explication. In offering new ways to interpret poems by important contemporary poets, What the Mirror Said makes the case for the need to study and celebrate Black women poets.Sold out -
