This Body I Wore: A Memoir
A captivating memoir of one woman's long journey to late transition, as the trans community emerges alongside her.
"[An] achingly beautiful memoir." --Manuel Betancourt, The New York Times Book Review "A universal and profound meditation on the price of authenticity." --Jennifer Finney Boylan, author of She's Not There and Good Boy Long before Laverne Cox appeared on the cover of Time, far removed from drag and ballroom culture, there were countless trans women living and dying as men, most of whom didn't even know they were trans. Diana Goetsch's This Body I Wore chronicles one woman's long journey to coming out, a path that runs parallel to the emergence of the trans community over the past several decades. "How can you spend your life face-to-face with an essential fact about yourself and still not see it?" This is a question often asked of trans people, and a question that Goetsch, an award-winning poet and essayist, addresses with the power and complexity of lived reality. She brings us into her childhood, her time as a dynamic and beloved teacher at New York City's Stuyvesant High School, and her plunge into the city's crossdressing subculture in the 1980s and '90s. Under cover of night, crossdressers risked their jobs and their safety to give expression to urges they could neither control nor understand. Many would become late transitioners, the Cinderellas of the trans community largely ignored by history. Goetsch has written not a transition memoir, but rather a full account of a trans life, one both unusually public and closeted. All too often trans lives are reduced to before-and-after photos, but what if that before photo lasted fifty years? -
Song of Increase: Listening to the Wisdom of Honeybees for Kinder Beekeeping and a Better World
The most joyful emanation produced by a colony of bees is known as the "song of increase"--declaring that the hive is flourishing and the bees are happy in its abundance. Song of Increase takes us inside the world of the honeybee to glean the wisdom of these fascinating creatures with whom humanity has shared a sacred bond for millennia.
Within these pages is a bee-centric approach to living with honeybees, rather than advice for simply maximizing the products they provide. Jacqueline Freeman takes us beyond traditional beekeeping and offers a way to work in harmony with honeybees for both their good and ours. "Our way is one of kind observation," she explains, "where we create supportive homes and fields for bees to live in, as well as tend the heartfelt relationships we form by being together." Song of Increase focuses on hidden aspects of apiculture that lead us naturally to more sustainable practices. Freeman illuminates the unity consciousness that guides every action in the colony and how this profound awareness can influence the way we see both the natural world and ourselves. Each chapter presents a wealth of information about the life of bees, including Freeman's personal insights and direct teachings received from the bees themselves. Contents Include: I. The Song of Unity: How Bees See Themselves, Their Colony, and the World
II. The Song of Belonging: The Sacred Work of the Queen, Drones, Maidens, and Pips
III. The Song of Communion: How Bees Create a Perfect Home
IV. The Song of the World: The Communion of Bees and Flowers
V. The Song of Increase: The Blessings of the Swarm and the Ascension of a New Queen

Sensitive Is the New Strong: The Power of Empaths in an Increasingly Harsh World
The New York Times bestselling author of Dying to Be Me returns with "a gorgeous and powerful field guide to the empath living in today's wild world" (Laura Berman, PhD, author of Quantum Love) and how they can fully embrace their gifts of intuition and empathy. Empaths not only sense other people's emotions, but also absorb them--sometimes to their own disadvantage, often leading to overwhelming sensory overload and feelings of confusion or low self-esteem. Their willingness to help and please others might make them prey to opportunists or cause them to give away more energy than they can afford. But Anita Moorjani argues that it's possible to turn this onslaught of emotional burden into a powerful tool. In a time when traits like sensitivity, kindness, and compassion are sorely undervalued, Moorjani helps empaths--whether emerging or acknowledged--navigate obstacles they may face and identify what makes them unique. She teaches them how to claim their true powers as empaths and to be their most authentic selves. "Sensitive Is the New Strong is a book that provides you with groundbreaking information, tools, and exercises in understanding the challenges faced by empaths. You can learn how to protect your energy and thrive. A definite must-read for empaths and their loved ones" (Nick Ortner, New York Times bestselling author). -
Returning Home to Our Bodies: Reimagining the Relationship Between Our Bodies and the World--Practices for Connecting Somatics, Nature, and Social C
For readers of adrienne maree brown, Staci K. Haines, and Robin Wall Kimmerer A body-based healing model that interrogates what we've been wrongly taught about hierarchies of nature and the body--and pushes back against the white supremacy, colonialism, patriarchy, and capitalism embedded in modern embodiment practices. Pushing back against a consumerist, pleasure-centric somatics industry that privileges product over process, Abigail Rose Clarke reminds us that truly meaningful embodiment practice nurtures our relationships among self, nature, and community. Combining the rigor of the scientific method with the poetry and lyricism of movement and somatic studies, Clarke's somatic learning system--The Embodied Life Method--centers the body as a guide through today's most seemingly intractable social and environmental challenges, reclaiming the body as a source of liberatory comfort in times of great uncertainty and yet, possibility. With tools and practices to help us better understand and dismantle the many ways our bodies are weaponized to serve domination systems, topics covered include:- Harnessing the vitality of curiosity and experimentation
- Using nature as a guide to possibility
- Embracing the necessity of difference
- Exposing the lie of universal isolation
- Dismantling the fallacy of hierarchy
- Uncovering the truth of endless capacity
- Awe as a driving force for transformation
With methods honed over decades of inquiry, teaching, and practice, Returning Home to Our Bodies provides a lucid, body-based model of healing and restoration--one that imagines a world beyond systems of domination, marginalization, and isolation to nurture embodied, whole-community liberation. -
Queering Your Craft: Witchcraft from the Margins
"As evident through the pages of this book, Snow holds a vision for the queer aspirant who hears the call to witchery, to find healing, empowerment, strength, and pride through their craft. Through creative and unique journal prompts, introspection, rituals, and spells, Snow achieves this beautifully, and herein lays the perfect guide for the queer witch to stand in their power and stand beside others; truly queering our craft with compassion and pride."
--Mat Auryn, author of Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick, and Manifestation Witchcraft has always belonged to the outsiders and outcasts in society, yet so much of the practice enforces and adheres to the same hierarchy we face in the world at large--a hierarchy that isolates and hurts those living beyond society's binaries and boundaries. While there are books that address magick for resistance and queer myth, until now there has not been one that specifically addresses the practice of queer magick from an LGBTQ+ standpoint.Queering Your Craft combines queer aesthetic and culture (like DIY culture and an emphasis on chosen family over formal covens) with pagan and metaphysical spiritual practice in a way that is commonplace but has not been written about until now. This book covers the personal, the collective, and the political, and how deeply intertwined all three are in a magickal practice for those who are LGBTQ+.
In this introduction to witchcraft, Snow presents why/how each concept is important to a queer craft, or how to approach it from a queer mindset. For example, conventional prayer, words, and symbols have always been problematic in a queer universe: How to make them work and still be true to yourself? The bulk of the book is about learning the craft. The latter portion is a grimoire of spells.
While accessible to beginning witches, Queering Your Craft provides new and inspiring information for longtime practitioners interested in a pure and personal approach that avoids the baggage of history and stereotype.

Prayers of Honoring
Prayers of Honoring was written for sharing from the heart in community. In western culture, we keep many things to ourselves. Prayer, among other things, has become a private practice for those of us who don't congregate for spiritual purposes. Our language for connection to something greater than ourselves has become truncated to basic iterations and generalized affirmations. These prayers were written to honor the things which are easy to celebrate, and also those things which require more practice. It was written as a reminder of the process of honoring, which is to show high respect. It's my thought that respect and reverence have all but gone missing from western culture. To cultivate these things through the rhythm of prayer is to demonstrate devotion to the unfathomable energies which suspend us between the divine energies of Earth and Sky every day and night. It's my belief that creating our own family practice of prayerfulness brings us closer as we travel forth.
"Prayers of Honoring has supported my personal practice and allowed me to ground in an entirely new way." - Trace K.
"Prayers of Honoring was a gift from a fellow yoga teacher in Montana. I've carried it with me around the world and continually seek comfort in the beautiful words and phrases. I am so grateful that you are sharing your heart song, it's beautiful." - Emily S.
"Love Prayers of Honoring. As I entered my shamanic path, these prayers really helped with all of the energy I was calling in, and the energy I was letting go. I felt it was one of my strongest tools, especially when my closest cousin left earth side during it all. Thank you." - Leigh

Mirrors in the Earth: Reflections on Self-Healing from the Living World
An award-winning nature therapy session for the soul--encounter the benevolence of the living world through 12 essays on the Earth-healing powers of self-compassion and empathy. When healing is needed at the deepest level, nature will always call us back home--not only to the oak woods or water-filled coves, but to the homes within ourselves. In a series of 12 lyrical nature essays, herbalist, writer, and Earth intuitive Asia Suler illuminates the healing power of the living Earth--and gives us permission to nurture self-compassion and empathy as forces for personal and ecological healing. In a time of unprecedented ecological devastation, it's easy to feel hopeless and disconnected. It's easier still to mask our inherent goodness--to imagine that our unique and precious gifts simply aren't enough, or forget the power of our inborn empathy. For those of us who are highly sensitive, innately attuned to the workings and whispers of the natural world, it can be hard to embody the belief that we're enough as we are--and that can heal the Earth. Here, Suler reveals the opposite: our goodness, our empathy, our intuitive connections, and our capacity for self-compassion are more than personal traits or antidotes to despair: they are, in fact, our most potent vehicles for planetary transformation. And as we learn to more deeply nurture and accept ourselves, we unlock living, healing connections to Earth. Combining poetic nature writing with exercises and reflection prompts at the end of each essay, Mirrors in the Earth coaxes us to come as we are: to discover and tend the inherent brilliance and medicine that lives in each of us. From the manatee-calm springs of wild Florida to the flower-dotted coves of the world's most biodiverse mountains, Mirrors in the Earth is an invitation and encounter with the benevolence of the living world--and a nature therapy session for the soul.
