Description

MiM wasn't always the Man in the Moon. He was once a child, fortunate enough to be born during the Golden Age, when all dreams were sweet. Until the day he and his family are attacked by Pitch, King of Nightmares. Bereft of his parents and left stranded on the moon, MiM turns for help to his oldest friend, Nightlight, who would sprinkle him as an infant with Dreamsand and protect him from nightmares. It is Nightlight who encourages MiM to become the guardian of the hopes and dreams of the children of Earth, but he will need help with his task--not least from a toymaker, a rabbit, and a fairy.

Critical Reviews

"A fabulous recapturing of an old, real fairytale world. Dark. Mysterious. Stunning!" --Maurice Sendak, Caldecott-winning author and illustrator, Where the Wild Things Are

"William Joyce, to put it simply, is a genius, and we are lucky to have another book from him. The Man in the Moon is filled with tenderness, love, and enchantment. It's an unforgettable story that will leave readers wanting more." --Brian Selznick, Caldecott-winning author and illustrator, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, on the English edition

"Each of William Joyce's books has been more beautifully painted, more magically imagined, and more deliciously written than the one that came before. The Man in the Moon is the latest dazzling masterpiece, the one we Joyceans, young and old, have been pining for. It instantly became my children's favorite book." --Michael Chabon, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, on the English edition
