The text, written in rhymed couplets, reads aloud smoothly, and the digital artwork captures sports action and bedtimes with equal facility. In 2018, it's not surprising that the picture-book illustrations feature an apparently Hispanic family and include racially diverse crowds and athletes. But while in Dahl and Forshay's Goodnight Baseball (2013), Goodnight Football (2014), and Goodnight Hockey (2015) the athletes are men, the current book shows two women's teams competing in a packed stadium.
