Description

Highlighting de Amaral's career-long experimentation with fabric, scale and three-dimensionality

Colombian artist Olga de Amaral's (born 1932) hand-woven works combine natural fibers, paint and plaster in a mixture of modernist aesthetics and traditional Colombian weaving techniques. This monograph brings together 100 of her works to show her evolution from geometric wall works to freestanding pieces.

Critical Reviews

The Colombian artist Olga de Amaral creates sculptures out of thread that, as the curator Glenn Adamson wrote 'feel not so much made as summoned into being.'--Julia Halperin "The New York Times: T List"
