After the deadliest hurricane to hit Sanibel Island in a century, Doc Ford must stop a gang of thieves--and worse--during the twelve hours of chaos that follow the passing of a storm's eye. A month before a killer hurricane hits Florida, Doc Ford gets a heads-up from a state department pal that during recent natural disasters, a group of paramilitary contractors have used the poststorm chaos as a license to steal--and kill. Doc doesn't give the warning much thought until the night the big storm hits. He's alone. The marina is a ghost town. Doc would have evacuated too but had to work a last-minute deal with the owner of the marina and some other stubborn liveaboards. They know the odds of being robbed after a storm spike. On barrier islands, there's about a twelve-hour window before help of any type arrives. No law enforcement, no first responders. And very few residents to deal with because most have evacuated. So, Doc stays. He isn't worried about himself. But he does wonder about a new neighbor: a British physician, inventor and possibly an MI6 asset. The man lives in one of the expensive houses on Millionaire's Row. In fact, it's just down the shoreline from the retired NSA director's home. This is no coincidence, and it raises the question: Will the storm bring out other new visitors to the island?

Praise for One Deadly Eye
"Who could better weave the convergence of a 500-year tropical hurricane and the high voltage evil of a deviant crime syndicate than Randy Wayne White. One Deadly Eye hits more powerfully and reads faster than Ian. If you weren't on or near the SW Florida barrier islands around the end of September 2022, now's your chance..."--Porter Goss, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency
"Explosive... Stunning depictions of hurricane prep and the aftermath in a nonstop thriller. Both longtime fans and new readers should revel in this."--Booklist STARRED review
"Randy Wayne White is a world-class storyteller--and he pulls out all the stops with this category five thriller. As Doc Ford battled both a deadly hurricane and a cadre of bad guys--including a terrifying serial killer--I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It's a real treat to see this complicated hero back on the page." --Alison Gaylin, Edgar Award-winning author of The Collective "The pace of this thriller moves as fast as the hurricane that hits Florida, forcing the great Doc Ford to protect his family even while dealing with a group of mobsters as bad as the storm. It's Randy Wayne White's best."-Mike Lupica, author of Robert B. Parker's Broken Trust and 12 Months to Live with James Patterson Praise for the Doc Ford Novels
"White is a poet, a wordsmith on a level few ever obtain." --Tampa Tribune
"Anyone who insists mysteries can't also be 'real literature' should be duct-taped to a chair and handed a novel by Randy Wayne White." --Washington Times
"Packed with finely drawn characters, relevant social issues, superb plotting and an effortless writing style. White has produced a virtually perfect piece of work." --Denver Post
"White is willing to take risks, which is why he is one of the few best-selling authors today worthy of the title 'writer.'" --Fort Worth Star-Telegram
