Sara Bennett is the assistant district attorney in Austin, TX, and about to take the reins in a murder trial--until the governor strong-arms her boss into benching her. In the meantime, one of her closest friends calls and asks her to take over as the local judge in Resolute, TX, and Sara decides it's just the change she needs. But shortly after arriving, she receives threats. Nate Reed is her best friend's brother and a one-night stand from years ago, but he's also a bodyguard who vows to protect and keep her safe. Working (and living) closely together, the two eventually realize they never lost what they had all those years ago. VERDICT Marshman (Resolute Investigation) continues the stories of the Reed family and gently unfolds the sweet love between Sara and Nate.
