Despite the fact that the setting for Tender Mercies is a horse and foal rescue, the tone of the book is positive, with a message of love for the animals God created. Rosie and Carrie learn that although some people are cruel to animals, God provides others who have a heart to rescue and care for them. A sensitively written book. My favorite in the series so far. The message of Sonrise Stable book 3 - Clothed with Thunder is that God created the horse. In this followup, Watson shows that in giving us dominion over His creation, God wants us to care for animals. Rosie and Carrie spend an exciting week at a horse rescue and experience first-hand the work involved. As with the other books in the series, there are doses of humor and inter-generational interaction.
