Critical Reviews

This welcome addition to the Leo Can! board book series features a familiar Black child and hismother. Leo and Mommy go to the park, where they find his friend Yu with her mother and herbaby brother. Leo and Yu enjoy the bouncy horses, the toddler swings, and the sandbox beforerunning through the sprinklers to cool off. After sharing a picnic, they head for home. The concisenarrative gives the book just enough structure, while the illustrations' clarity of line, appealingcolors, and recognizable characters add vitality and warmth. Best of all, Leo's latest story shows activities familiar to many children.
