"A stylishly strange little spell of a book, perfect for Halloween displays or literary-curious collections."--School Library Journal

Best Board Books, 2025 theSkimm Good For You Awards

Macbeth: A Potions Primer exposes little ones to the language of Shakespeare and the iconic witches from Macbeth, with their frenzied dancing and filling of the cauldron with eye of newt and toe of frog. The book also includes a bonus glossary of the potion ingredients with the names people from Shakespeare's time would know along with the contemporary common herbal names.

BabyLit (R) is a fashionable way to introduce your toddler to the world of classic literature. With clever, simple text by Jennifer Adams, paired with stylish design and illustrations by Allison Oliver, these books are a must for every savvy parent's nursery library.

Critical Reviews

This quirky concept book draws on the witches' iconic incantation from Macbeth, using rhythmic language and moody art to introduce children to a cabinet of curious ingredients drawn from the Bard's most iconic brew. Though adult readers will catch the Shakespeare reference, the lilting rhyme and eerie, engaging illustrations lend themselves well to seasonal read-alouds. Less a primer than a giftable nod to literary fandom, it still delivers a satisfyingly spooky tone. VERDICT A stylishly strange little spell of a book, perfect for Halloween displays or literary-curious collections.
