Description

2010 Green Prize for Sustainable Literature Youth Picture Book
2010 Green Earth Book Award

When Miss Fox shows up at school riding her bicycle, Mouse asks, "Do you have a flat tire?" "No," Miss Fox tells her students. "I am going green!" Soon everyone in the class is working to keep the earth healthy. Mouse takes shorter showers (and does her singing after!); Bunny brings a cloth bag to the supermarket; and Possum turns the lights off when he goes out. And Miss Fox's simple act has ripples even beyond her own students...soon the whole school starts riding their bikes--including the principal.

Critical Reviews

2010 Green Prize for Sustainable Literature Youth Picture Book
2010 Green Earth Book Award

"The best part of this, besides Kennedy's exuberant watercolor pictures, is the way the kids consider their actions."--Booklist

"The colorful watercolor and ink illustrations go hand in hand with the lively presentation."--School Library Journal

"Through simple sentences and concepts appropriate to young children, Spinelli draws attention to the easy and fun ways children can help save their environment. The colorful pictures draw attention to the page and help illustrate the concepts presented through the text. This work is valuable in science, ecology, and community curriculum, as well as in showing how students can work together to bring about a large change."--Children's Literature
