I am a voracious reader, but I have never encountered a book quite like this one...and that's a pity. It's never too early to teach our young ones the power of simple human kindness, to make them open their eyes and really see those around them who might need a helping hand. Perhaps, if there were more books like this one, our society as a whole would begin to become less violent as it healed emotionally. But the story's message is delivered even more powerfully, in my opinion, because it is not in the slightest preachy. This endearing tale-and the delightful illustrations-will tug at your emotions and charm you, in and of itself, even if you ignore the larger implications.-Ann Collins, Book Reviewer
