The vast oil fields of Texas between Abilene and Fort Stockton are referred to by many as "The Big Country." The towns, big and small, as different as they may be, they all share two things in common......oil and cattle.
The wind-blown hills of the Big Country can be desert-hot in the summer or bitter-cold in the winter. The harsh, unforgiving landscape there creates tough people who are tied closely to the land. People who work hard, play hard, and love hard.
This is the story about two such people who meet by sheer chance on a late Sunday afternoon at a truck stop in a small town. That unexpected meeting would turn into a whirlwind romance with life-long consequences for both of them and also everyone around them.

She was silent and smiling. Then, she forcefully reached down and took the drink out of Rolly's hand. Now her expression changed from a smile to a devilish look that Lucifer himself would have been proud of. She shouted for everyone in the audience to hear, "You sick, pathetic, bastard!" She launched the entire contents of the Styrofoam cup into his face, knocking off his hat in the process.
