Description

"Any baby shower you bring these to will instantly make you the coolest gift giver in the room..." - Elizabeth Bird, School Library Journal

Beautifully designed Box Set includes 2021 Stonewall Award Winner! 5-board-book-bundle features beautiful, full-color photos of real kids and families (representing LGBTQ families, kids with disabilities, many cultures and races), while simple, poetic text builds vocabulary and empathy. (2) HAIR showcases race and ethnicity, celebrates difference, and helps children challenge racism.

(3) ON-THE-GO showcases mobility aids, celebrates all types of movement, and helps children advocate for accessibility for all.

(4) HOW WE EAT showcases different foods and utensils helping families discuss ability, culture, and food.

(5) CELEBRATIONS showcases the world's major religions and practices, helping readers discuss belief systems, ceremonies, and holidays to spread love and understanding for all faiths.

Critical Reviews

Best Gifts for 2-Year-Olds - New York Times, Wirecutter

"The photos-which feel intimate and joy-filled, as if you've been granted access to strangers' private albums-depict kids and parents of many races, LGBTQ families (including a trans man who's pregnant, prompting curious questions from my 9-year-old), children with disabilities, and various ceremonies and faiths practiced throughout the world.I can confirm-with apologies to Sandra Boynton and Co.-that these books have surpassed her other board books to become her new favorites." - Wirecutter, NY Times

"You just hit the board book jackpot.I urge you to run, not walk, to your nearest library or independent bookstore and grab yourself some copies. Any baby shower you bring these to will instantly make you the coolest gift giver in the room." - Betsy Bird, School Library Journal

"The bright photographs help young kids visualize and connect to people they may see day-to-day, and many of the photos feature young children that your little one can relate to. The text has a simple rhyme and sight words that make it easy for your little ones to understand what is happening. In addition, each child is photographed in a way that showcases empowerment, autonomy, and familial love." - tlc.com
